We are looking for an Accountant to join our rapidly growing organization and accounting/finance team, reporting to CoverMyMeds’ Director of Finance Operations. You will work with the team to ensure that the corporate accounting processes and procedures are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 


What You’ll Do

Like most growing companies, the job content of all positions varies daily as everyone pitches in to get the job done. Nonetheless, we try to maintain clarity with respect to employees’ primary responsibilities.

CoverMyMeds is expanding its accounting team in order to support the rapid growth of the organization as a whole. You will work closely with your team members to maintain accurate accounting records, financial reporting and compliance functions within the Finance/Accounting Department; and to perform a variety of professional accounting tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibilities. The position is responsible for:

  • Perform and oversee accounting related to Accounts Payable.  Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and employee expense reports. Keep track, process and reconcile payments and expenditures, including purchase orders, invoices, checks etc., in compliance with accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensure appropriate recognition and reporting of use taxes
  • Ensure all expenses are coded to correct GL accounts and departments per budget
  • Ensure all vendor and employee inquiries are responded to in a timely manner. Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
  • Prepare and review journal entries including monthly accruals and departmental allocations in support of the month end close
  • Complete account reconciliations. Ownership of specific accounts on the consolidated balance sheet and income statement and performance of detailed analytical review for those accounts
  • Work with internal IT on purchase order process and maintain company fixed assets schedule 
  • Assist and interact with various departments on the expenses analysis
  • Help to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies and procedures, including with respect to internal controls over financial reporting
  • Provide accounting details and assistance to company SOX audit and compliance
  • Initiate improvements or revisions in the accounting system or its procedures
  • Support special projects and ad-hoc analysis

About You

Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who can demonstrate the ability to grow professionally, has a strong work ethic, and is eager to learn. You’re detail-oriented, a problem solver, a team player, and have strong communication skills. Specific qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. 1 to 2 years’ experience in accounting related roles
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting concepts required
  • Detail-oriented; must be very organized and able to multitask, plus work well under pressure at times
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including sharing ideas and information across functional groups. Ability to work and think independently or in a group 
  • Must be customer centric and be able to balance the demands of a rapidly growing and complex environment, while delivering results in the short term
  • Energetic, flexible team player with ability to adapt in changing environment and work flexible hours as needed, driving to results and meeting deadlines
