Engineering Manager

As an Engineering Manager at CoverMyMeds, you make significant contributions to the success of our business though personnel management, project management, technical leadership, team-building, mentoring, career development and recruiting.  Your primary responsibility is to build and manage a high-performing engineering team that quickly and efficiently solves customer problems and builds scalable and highly-reliable products that drive great business results.  You’ll work with everyone from the technical side to the operations side with endless opportunities to take on responsibility, mentor and continue learning.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work with engineers and project managers to lead projects to successful outcomes, including:
    • Work on cross-functional teams to design solutions for our platforms
    • Determine and meet project, timing and technical requirements
    • Deliver features that matter early and often
    • Work with the team on design, execution and deployment
    • Work with the team to design and execute tests.  Leverage automation for efficiency and reusability.
    • Roll up your sleeves – getting hands-on in the technical work
  • Manage the project team’s SDLC process by continually learning and improving to make the team more effective and efficient
  • Ensure care and quality of the team’s projects, including:
    • Maintainability
    • Test coverage – ensure appropriate testing at all levels with highest risks prioritized
    • Monitoring and alerting
    • Scalability
    • Personnel support for production problems
  • Work with recruiting staff to engage candidates and play an active role in the interview process and hiring decisions
  • Manage salary and other expenses for your team
  • Work with training staff to ensure successful onboarding and training of new hires
  • Manage careers of team members including professional growth, periodic performance reviews, and positive and critical feedback

About You:

  • 3+ years formally leading software development or infrastructure teams, from projects to personal development
  • 5+ years in professional technical roles
  • 5+ years experience working in agile processes
  • Exceptional blend of technical, business, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinker, able to understand and manage technology and engineers, yet maintain a business and customer focus
  • Consensus builder, able to move both technical and non-technical people to action
  • Ability to work and thrive in a highly-creative, collaborative, and dynamic environment
