Risk Management Specialist

The Risk Management Specialist at CoverMyMeds will assist the Manager of Risk Management and the Governance Risk and Cybersecurity team to provide a comprehensive, world-class implementation of risk across the organization. This position serves as one of the risk management resources for the Shared Tech-Governance, Risk, and Cybersecurity (ST-GRC) department, IT leaders, product leaders, developers, engineers, and any other stakeholders with a vested interest in the success of CoverMyMeds.  

The Risk Management Specialist has a broad application for the risk management activities of the company including performing risk and control assessments, engaging in risk and control identifications, and recommending remediation or mitigation activities. A significant amount of the work is accomplished by educating and empowering other teams and coordinating their work.

This position will be continually learning from industry resources and real-world experience and be responsible for actively improving the CoverMyMeds quality and risk management practices.

This individual will have to be strategic, technical, and detail oriented with behaviors that lead to great organizational relationships.  The individual will assist to build out CoverMyMeds’ strategic goals and objectives and help drive them to completion.

What You'll Do

The Risk Management Specialist position encompasses a number of responsibilities, including the following tasks related to Risk Management: 

  • Assist in implementing an integrated risk framework to present risk in a way business partners can consume and use as a basis to make strategic and tactical decisions
  • Support and perform business process documentation to capture and record risks embedded within business procedures and identify required controls
  • Perform risk and control assessments to identify control weaknesses and assess overall risk in processes including application assessments, business process assessments, and privacy and compliance assessments 
  • Identify issues related to risk and control assessments
  • Aid in analyzing risks for severity and priority
  • Monitor and report on the progress of risk control and mitigation activities
  • Collaborate with other ST-GRC, Compliance and Privacy leaders to ensure continuity between Risk, Information Security, Compliance, and Privacy functions
  • Assist in identifying and communicating the overall risk profile of the company and each business unit
  • Participate in risk management professional organizations to represent CoverMyMeds and our brand
  • Encourage continuous improvement across the company
  • Promote an “every employee is a risk manager” culture

About You  

  • Blend of technical, business, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinker, detail oriented, and able to understand and help architect technology and business processes, and maintain a business and customer focus
  • Technical and business skills with efficient written and oral communication skills, able to bridge quality and risk concerns
  • Ability to work and thrive in a highly creative, collaborative, and dynamic environment
  • Four-year technical degree or equivalent
  • 2+ years in IT audit/risk, audit and/or technology
  • Compliance and/or Privacy experience a plus
  • Operational Risk Management experience a plus
  • Healthcare Industry experience a plus
